What is PDR? And what are the benefits?

Can Any Dent Be Repaired, and Will It Affect My Vehicle's Paint?

Dent Repair Limitations

  • Not all dents are repairable with Paintless Dent Repair (PDR).
    • Feasibility depends on depth and location of the dent.
  • Size Considerations:
    • Dents up to dinner plate-sized can typically be repaired if not too deep.
    • Even small, deep dents (dime-sized or smaller) may be irreparable due to excessive metal stretching.
  • Commonly Repairable Dents:
    • Golf ball-sized or smaller dents are the most successfully repaired.
    • 95% of minor dents can be fixed using PDR.
    • 5% may be irreparable due to depth, location, or stretched metal.
  • Challenges in Repair:
    • Cracked paint is a sign the dent may not be suitable for PDR.
    • Stretched dents might still be repairable by shrinking the metal using specialized equipment.
    • Difficult areas:
      • Quarter panel opening lips
      • Reinforced sections of hoods
      • Panel edges
  • Alternative Techniques:
    • Glue pulling method can be used when there’s no direct access behind the panel.
    • Works best if the paint remains intact and the dent is not overly stretched.
    • May require additional refinements for a seamless finish.
  • Customer Expectations:
    • PDR is highly effective for minor dents.
    • Larger or deeper dents are more challenging but often yield impressive results.
    • We provide a detailed assessment before starting repairs to set clear expectations.

Impact on Paint

  • PDR does not damage factory paint.
  • Modern factory paint is flexible and resilient, making it ideal for the PDR process.
  • Preserves your vehicle's original paint, maintaining its value and aesthetics.

Will the Dent Return?

  • No. Once properly removed with PDR, the dent does not come back.
  • No risk of visible rings or sand scratch marks—common issues with traditional repair methods.
  • A correctly executed PDR ensures a long-lasting, high-quality repair.
